Shoujo mystery Sci-Fi? Are all dreams weird these days?
There was this girl's family that moved into this house- she was the main character, and unlike .. I think, 80-90% of all shoujo, she had both parents, a calm, reasonably kind hard working father, and a mother who I think wore the pants in the family, so to speak. He also had an older brother, only by a year or two, and a younger sister, who was probably 12 or so.
The new house, on the outside, looked like a rather large warehouse... but that was deceptive, because on the inside, the house was basically full of "static holograms." Which was some technology where something could be given a pseudo existence, substance, mass, and appearance that continued as long as it stayed inside... also without having to continue to invest in it's existence. I don't really know how it worked, but I do know that between the first and second floor of the house, there was a net just in case the floor stopped existing, but that shouldn't happen at all, and certainly not from things like the power going out.
anyway, the girl fell for a guy at her school... because, hey, it's a shoujo, that's as inevitable as air. But .. somehow, the computer that controlled the house, that could reconfigure it, etc, was artificially intelligent, and, err, got jealous of the guy. It did various things to make the guy's life harder if he came inside, and the girl would fine her simplest requests answered mysteriously. It took a while before anyone figured out what was going on, all the while the computer became more obsessive-- the house's computer wasn't supposed to have an AI.
... which I suppose is normal, since the AI was actually the embodied spirit ... embodied used in an unusually loose sense, of a pair of black dress socks.
...
yeah, I don't know what the hell about that last part, either.
