Trouble in Iran

Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad was elected in Iran recently to the office of president.  Though the government claimed that it was a well represented election, Iranian bloggers tell another tale of the election to which no one came. He was accused of having been involved in the 1979 hostage crisis.  The CIA is currently saying it wasn't him.  Iran likewise denies it, taking the time to take a cheep shot at US intelligence.

Prominent hostage-taker Mohsen Mirdamadi, said Ahmadinejad was one of five student leaders who met to discuss whether to storm the U.S. embassy. But, he said, Ahmadinejad and another man spoke out against the idea.

"They suggested taking over the Soviet embassy instead," the official IRNA news agency quoted Mirdamadi as saying.

Mmm.. Yes.  Okay.

So they're saying that he was there in the beginning..  and his idea was "Let's make hostages of the Soviets instead...  Who sees that as better?

He was a leader in the movement behind the 1979 hostage crisis.  We just aren't quite sure how deep his involvement was.

Long story short, he intends to restart Iran's nuclear enrichment program (mmm, bombs!).. and he just said this...
Art reaches perfection when it portrays the best life and best death. After all, art tells you how to live. That is the essence of art. Is there art that is more beautiful, more divine, and more eternal than the art of martyrdom? A nation with martyrdom knows no captivity. Those who wish to undermine this principle undermine the foundations of our independence and national security. They undermine the foundation of our eternity.

Read what Trey Jackson had to say.

He wants to continue the revolution, that it knows no border.  One world, one religion, not a pretty picture.  People who don't care who they kill, so long as they take out a few of their "enemies" are especially dangerous.  We cannot allow men who do not fear death to have a more efficient means of putting it on the table.
